All players compete against players in their handicap group. Payouts from weekly men’s night Wednesday are based on the number of players in your handicap group (e.g., if there are 30 players in your handicap group who played Wednesday, then the total purse for that group is $300, if there are 40 in another handicap group that night, then the total purse for that group would be $400).
As of June 28th, 2023, the handicap groups are as follows (these are based on your 18-hole Men's Club golf tee handicap):
6 Minus - Course handicap less than or equal to 6
7-12
13 Plus - Course handicap greater than or equal 13
All handicap groups use the Gold tee boxes. The exceptions to this rule are for members whose age plus handicap exceeds 80, who are allowed to tee off from the blue tees on the 2nd, 6th and 9th holes, and members whose age plus handicap exceed 90, who are allowed to tee off from the white tees on the 2nd, 6th and 9th holes.
13 Plus Handicappers measure their KP on hole #3 after their third shot, not their second.
Game sheets will be sent via e-mail (with the week's tee times), posted on the website, and posted by the starter. If you want a copy, please print it out yourself, take a picture of it, or save it on your phone. We will no longer be supplying paper copies of the gamesheets as this is just a waste of money and paper. The gamesheet lists the weekly game (see below) as well as the KP and deuce holes for that week.
You must pay your green fees in the pro-shop. Save your green fee receipt as you must show it to the starter.
Check in with the starter in case you are able to tee off early.
Check your handicap for the week on the starter’s sheet prior to teeing off that week. You will need to know this for KPs (this is e-mailed out with the weekly gamesheet).
Prior to teeing off, pay the $10 entry fee to the starter. This is split into game, skin, KP and deuce pots for your handicap group.
Note that your $10 entry fee is non-refundable unless Men's Night is cancelled and the scoring nullified.
Make sure that the starter highlights your name, indicating that you paid your $10 weekly fee.
The 50/50 draw, which helps support junior golf (but is no longer exclusively used for this purpose), is $5 and is optional. This is managed by our starter as well.
You must play with at least one other Men's Club member for your score to count. If you don't play with another Men's Club member, you don't have to pay your $10 entry fee.
Generally speaking, we will have a draw for prizes from the pro-shop on the first Men's Night of each month. Tickets are 1 for $10 and 3 for $20. If not enough tickets are sold, the draw will carry over to the following week. Prizes can not be exchanged (except for clothing and shoe sizes) and are not redeemable for cash or gift certificates. This is managed by our starter as well.
In the event of a truncated Men's Night or a weather cancellation, the Men's Club reserves the right to change the weekly game, prize structure or refund the Men's Night entry fees. This is done at the discretion of the Men's Club.
You are not allowed to play on the same day before a Men's Night event (either a Wednesday game or tournament). Some people have the opportunity to go out and play first thing in the morning and then play in the afternoon during Men's Night.
Should you play in the morning before a men's night event (either a tournament or weekly game) you are not allowed to participate in that event. Anyone who does will forfeit any winnings and the Executive will also have to meet with them to determine any other repercussions.
The Senior Men's Club have the similar rules and expectations for their events. The challenge is we have many dual members and the Senior Men's tournaments often play on Wednesday and Thursday. Playing in a Wednesday Senior Men's tournament would automatically exclude you from playing in a Men's Night event on that same Wednesday.
Gimmies are not allowed.
It is recommended, but not required, to submit one scorecard per foursome. If you are playing with an unfamiliar group, you can keep your own scorecard.
Have everyone’s first name and last name on the scorecard.
Record your gross score for each hole.
Total your gross score on the scorecard before turning it in.
All scorecards should record starting and finishing time.
After finishing your front nine, turn your scorecard into the pro-shop. They are responsible for entering your scores in the Men's Club computer. If you need a copy of your scorecard, take a photograph of it.
Enter your gross scores in the Men's Club computer (in the pro-shop) and leave your scorecard.
Not leaving your scorecard in the pro-shop could result in a disqualification of your score.
If you are playing 18 and entering your scores would cause a delay on the 10th tee, please wait until you are done #18 before entering your scores.
The scorekeeper would appreciate it if all scorecards were turned in as soon as possible so if you tee of late, please turn your scorecard in after playing the front nine.
New for 2021 - If one player shoots the lowest gross score during Men's Night, that player will receive a $20 gift certificate.
That player must be the only person who shoots the lowest score. If two players tie for lowest score, then no lowest score prize will be awarded. Lowest gross score prizes do not carry over to the next week.
The Deuce Holes make up $1.00 of the $10.00 weekly entry fee. This is paid out in cash and there is a lower limit of $10 and an upper limit of $75 per deuce.
Each handicap group splits its pot between all players who make a 2 on their designated hole or holes. Deuce hole prizes make up $1.00 of the $10.00 weekly entry fee.
7 Minus handicaps, hole #6 is always the deuce hole.
8 to 13 handicaps, hole #6 and #8 alternate (weekly) as the deuce hole.
14 Plus handicaps, #6 and #8 both count as deuce holes.
7 Minus handicaps, hole #13 is always the deuce hole.
8 to 13 handicaps, hole #11 and #13 both count as deuce holes.
14 Plus handicaps, #11, #13 and #16 all count as deuce holes.
Skins prizes make up $3.00 of the $10.00 weekly entry fee. This is paid out in cash and there is a lower limit of $10 and an upper limit of $75 per skin.
To win a skin, you must outscore everyone else in your handicap group on a hole. The total skins purse is then divided evenly among all the players who won a skin that week.
The 7 Minus and 8-13 handicap groups play gross skins only.
The 14 Plus handicap group plays for both net and gross skins.
Game prizes make up $4.00 of the $10.00 entry fee and are paid in gift certificates.
Prizes are paid for the top five finishers (and ties) in each handicap groups as 40%-33%-27% of their handicap group’s purse.
All winners of the Virtual Tombstone and Matchplay vs Mr. Par games share the purse equally. If fewer than 3 players beat these games, then the players who tie for the third best score will also split the purse equally.
The minimum payout for any prize will be $10.
If nobody in a particular handicap group wins a skin or deuce, then the money from that purse will carry over to the next week’s handicap group’s skin or deuce purse.
If there is excess money in the purse due to the $75 cap on skins or deuces, then the money from that purse will carry over to the following week’s handicap group’s skin or deuce purse. Similarly, any excess money paid out for the $10 minimum prize will be removed from the following week's purse.
If all three KPs are not won, then the other KP winners will split the KP pot.
KP prizes make up $2.00 of the $10.00 weekly entry fee. They are paid out in gift certificates.
All KP winners will split the KP pot for that week. If one KP is not won, then the KP pot will be split two ways. If there are two (or more) winners of a KP, then they will split 1/3 of the pot.
KP is measured from the edge of the flagstick to the nearest edge of the ball.
Print your first and last name.
Make sure you fill out the correct card for your handicap group.
Record the KP’s distance in CENTIMETERS, not inches. If you are in the hole, you can just print "In the hole", however.
Long Putt - The long putt must be from on the green and you cannot intentionally putt outside the currently established long putt distance in an attempt to register a longer putt .
14 Plus Handicappers measure their KP on hole #3 after their third shot, not their second.
KP winners can be given even if the player does not finish their round or turn in a scorecard. Only members are eligible for KPs.
