(formerly the September Slam)
Both players tee off on every hole. They then select the one ball and both players play a ball from within 6 inches, no nearer the hole, of that position. This is repeated until the hole is finished.
The exception to the 6 inch rule is putts on the green which must be played from the exact same spot.
There is no limit on the number of drives each player must use.
Players must play shots from the same condition and may NOT improve their position, even if it is within 6 inches (i.e.. move the ball out a bunker, out of a hazard, from the fringe to the green, from rough into the fairway, etc.).
Once a team has decided on the better of the two balls to play, they can mark the original ball, clean it and place it back down within 6 inches, no nearer to the hole.
Once a ball is holed that score will be counted. Example: Player 1 putts first for birdie and lips out. He then proceeds to tap in while Player 2 is getting ready to make his putt. The score for the hole will be a par regardless if Player 2 makes the birdie putt.
Click here for a list of the Men's Club rules (this is accessible from the main page as well). These include Golf Canada rules, rules from the back of the scorecard and local Men's Club rules.
If you are unsure of a ruling, please play 2 balls on the hole and get a ruling afterwards. Do not turn in your scorecard until the dispute has been resolved!
If your group makes a decision on a ruling during the round and all members agree then it will be considered resolved.
Scorecards are to be turned into the pro-shop with your team's gross scores clearly printed.
Please bring photos of any members or contributors to the Broadmoor Men's Golf Club that you wish to honor. We will have a board where you can display your photo (please let us know if we can keep the photo for next year or if you want it back).
Only open to members of the Broadmoor Men's Golf Club.
This will be a 2-man scramble.
Entries are being accepted as of Wednesday, August 28th, 2023. Click here for an entry form.
The fee for each player will be $30, $60 for a team of two.
The deadline for entries is Saturday, September 7th at noon.
Men's Night handicaps will be used to determine flights and net scores. Team handicaps will be calculated by adding the 25% of each player's handicap together and rounding that off. This is slightly different to what Golf Canada recommends (35% of the low handicap plus 15% of the high handicap, see Appendix C of the Golf Canada handicapping guide) but we have found it is a reasonable compromise in past tournaments.
If you enter as a single, we will try to find you a partner (no guarantees). If we can't find you a partner, we will put you on the last minute spares list.
Players are responsible for finding their own replacements if their partner can not play. The Men's Club Executive will try to help but the Executive has a limited amount of time to dedicate to this type of thing. If you can't find a partner, you can still play but are required to play a single ball.
We will be paying out the top two teams in each flight based on gross/net score, $200/team for 1st, $150/team for second.
The number of flights and teams per flight will depend on the number of entries received.
Each player will receive a hot dog and beverage ticket (which must be redeemed that day).
There will be free range balls for each player.
There will be one random prize draw per flight.
All players must tee off from the GOLD tees on all holes, except for:
members whose age plus handicap exceeds 80 who can use the blue tees on #2, #6 and #9, and
members whose age plus handicap exceeds 90 who can use the white tees on #2, #6 and #9.
