From Men's Club President Rick Ramsay
After the Club Championship trophy presentation, as the President I was disappointed with the trophy and the condition it was in. I also received emails stating similar concerns of its condition. After looking more closely at the trophy it was a disaster. Pieces broken, pieces falling off, shields bent and scratched and the last 5 years of winner were not on the trophy at all because there was no room.
The executive decided it was time to get this updated and back to a level we could be proud to present to our annual Club Champion. It is an important component of the overall Club Championship experience.
During my search for the appropriate wood, I was lucky enough to bump into Colin McColl, owner of Windsor Plywood Sherwood Park and one of our members. He stepped up and donated a solid piece of walnut wood to add another tier to the trophy. As well he gave a cash donation to support the revitalization of the trophy. We very much appreciate Colin's support. As a thank you to Colin and Windsor Plywood, we have added a sponsored by Windsor Plywood Sherwood Park plaque to this trophy.
We then refinished all the wood, replaced all broken parts and had the shields redone and the missing winners added.
You can now see the finished product. It is because of the great support from Colin and some Men’s Club money that we now have something worthy of a club championship photo.
Rick Ramsay, Broadmoor Men's Golf Club President
