Dedicated to Larry Rywak
Play is governed by the 2019 Golf Canada (RCGA) Rules of Golf and these supplementary local rules, as well as the local rules on the back of the scorecard (see below).
For a full list of the rules of golf, please visit the Golf Canada website at Rules of Golf - Golf Canada.
Tremendous thanks to the late Larry Rywak for his rulings.
Situation 1
This area will be marked by a rope as well as a white line. If your ball comes to rest in the mark off area Ground under repair between the white line you will be entitled to free relief no penalty stroke.
You will then be allowed to drop your ball no closer to the hole in a perpendicular line from where the ball comes to rest. no matter where it comes to rest within the marked area you will drop it on the southside (roped area) using 1 club length from the white line or rope. The drop must be done according to the Golf Canada rules knee height and once it comes to rest within the 1 club length it is considered back in play.
Situation 2
Please hit a provisional from the tee should you think that there is a possibility that your ball may have come to rest outside the ground under repair.
Should your ball come to rest outside the marked area there is no free relief for ground under repair.
For example if you hit it past the northside line and end up in the trees
If you do not find it then your provisional ball will be in play
or you go in and find it you must play it according to the Golf Canada rules
1) play it as it lies
2) go back as far as you want keeping the ball and flag in a line (stroke penalty)
3) take an unplayable lie (1 stroke penalty) 2 club length relief no closer to the hole.
Members whose age plus handicap exceeds 80 are allowed to tee off from the BLUE tees on the 2nd, 6th, and 9th
Members whose age plus handicap exceeds 90 are allowed to tee off from the WHITE tees on the 2nd, 6th, and 9th holes.
All other holes must use the GOLD tees.
Players doubtful of their rights or the correct procedure are entitled to put into play 2 balls, as per the rules of golf.
To do so, a Player must:
Announce to a fellow competitor their intention to play a second ball.
Announce which ball the player desires to score with prior to the play of either of the 2 balls.
Report the facts to the Tournament Committee at the conclusion of the round prior to returning the scorecard, irrespective of score. Failure to report will result in disqualification.
Perimeter fencing surrounding golf course property.
White boundary stakes, or lines.
White lines when tied into boundary stakes or perimeter fencing.
Driving range is out-of-bounds.
Out-of-bounds for holes #4 and #5 on the left side is defined by the inside edge of the bicycle/walkway.
All public roads are out of bounds.
A ball crossing a public road and coming to rest on another part of the golf course shall be deemed out-of-bounds (i.e., over the green on holes 4, 10, 16, and 17).
This rule is does not apply to the Club Championship, only for league play!
This is an additional option to the regular relief for balls lost/OB, i.e., stroke and distance.
This rule does not apply to holes 4, 10, 16, and 17 where the ball can go over the green and come to rest on or over the road. In this case, the player must use the stroke and distance penalty.
If a provisional is played, local rule E5 is no longer available for relief on the first ball. It can then only be applied to the second ball (assuming it too is lost/OB).
